Hate Crime? Two-Dog Attack Attempt on Activist De Bouse at White-Operated Branson Hotel

The white male owner of two unleashed dogs and the Four Seasons Inn- Branson, MO could be under fire after the white dog owner allowed his two unleashed dogs to try and attack respected global leader Activist Greshun De Bouse. The attack attempt spurred an allergic reaction in De Bouse which required medical attention. Management of the Four Seasons Inn in Branson, MO- who are all white-were made aware of the issue, and allegedly neither got back with De Bouse nor did anything to rectify the matter to De Bouse’s knowledge. The incident is believed to have been racially motivated considering the white dog’s owner allowed the attack attempt, the hotel allegedly allowed the attempt by not resolving the matter, Activist De Bouse had allegedly been repeatedly harassed, and was one of the only two or three Americans of Color staying at the hotel at the time. The state of Missouri has a number of documented racism and KKK incidents throughout the years. Specifically in Branson, MO in 2020, "members of the public demanded that the city condemn Dixie Outfitters, a store that specializes in Confederate-flag-themed merchandise whose owners have family ties to the Ku Klux Klan. Even the NAACP for the first time in its history in 2017 issued a travel advisory for African-Americans traveling anywhere within the state of Missouri due to extreme racism and bias.

And you may recall the social unrest sparked by the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Black male Michael Brown by a white Ferguson, MO police officer in 2014. A spokesperson for Activist De Bouse states the Four Seasons Inn misrepresented itself as the "luxurious place to stay" in Branson," when it is the exact opposite. And Activist De Bouse, also a respected published researcher, thought it would be a peaceful environment conducive to her work. But the spokesperson stated "Activist De Bouse has been harassed and discriminated against by management and staff repeatedly and the general atmosphere of Branson is not welcoming to African-Americans."

A search of online hotel reviews yielded a number a negatives concerning the staff, cleanliness, and more of the Four Seasons Inn. Our respected global leader Activist Greshun De Bouse has made tremendous positive contributions to the nation, and represents some of the most vulnerable and underserved populations-including disabled veterans. We pray for her complete and speedy recovery. Updates on this story will be provided as they become available.
