Relocated Reinstated RR21 Real: Is Desantis $5,000 Officer Bonus?

Florida-Anyone familiar with the state of Florida most likely is familiar with the state’s very visible and vocal governor, Ron Desantis. Desantis has been especially vocal concerning Florida’s stance on vaccine mandates in comparison to other states. More specifically, Desantis has touted Florida as a state that welcomes police officers who are not being treated well in other states or who lost their jobs or pay after refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccination or reveal vaccination status. Desantis also has been promising a $5,000 bonus to officers who relocate to Florida to work as police officers. But where is the bonus, and when will relocating officers see it? Also, many are wondering if officers relocating to Florida will have housing awaiting them. A new need-based initiative by Respected Advocate-Activist Greshun De Bouse called Relocated Reinstated RR21 offers relocation assistance to qualifying officers wanting to get relocated and reinstated as officers in Florida. RR21 offers officers transportation to Florida (typically airfaire), some initial lodging, and some meals to help facilitate a smoothe transitional process. Officers who are RR21 recipients understand the initiative is designed chiefly to transport them to Florida.

RR21 is separate from any State of Florida or Desantis initiative, but De Bouse says, "Relocated officers have the right to expect and actually receive the $5,000 bonus promised by Desantis, though to date I have not been informed that the $5000 bonus is a reality."

So the prevailing question is Will the officers who relocate to Florida actually get the $5,000 bonus, and how soon after relocating will they get it?

"It is irresponsible to entice officers needing employment and refuge after unvaccinated-based unemployment or other oppressive conditions to relocate to Florida under potential false pretenses of a $5,000 bonus not yet voted into legislation, if that is the case. At a precarious time such as this, officers and laypersons alike need something they can rely on-something that actually exists. Relocated Reinstated RR21 assistance actually exists."

When asked how she would handle a situation of using a $5,000 bonus that may not yet be a reality to entice officers to relocate, De Bouse says, “I would be honest. I would ensure the people have all of the facts, and understand that while I may want to offer such, the bonus may or may not become a reality depending on the amount of votes the proposition receives in legislative session. This way, officers desirous of relocating to Florida have adequate information to make an informed decision concerning if relocating to Florida for work is the best decision for them. I certainly would not want any officer or layperson to relocate to Florida or elsewhere on a governor promise to provide a $5,000 bonus that is not a reality, and though RR21 is not affiliated with propositions by Desantis, still it is imperative that potential RR21 assistance recipients are aware of all of the facts. ”

Relocate Reinstated RR21’s current focus is on getting police officers relocated and reinstated, but the initiative is designed to expand to other groups-including but not limited to firefighters, EMS, nurses, etc. Officers interested in RR21 may visit www.relocatedreinstated.com for more information.
